In talking with a rancher, he said the water level used reach his house. Now they have to bring their cows much further towards the water all year round. Hoof prints and the excrement of the cows were everywhere. I asked an another older rancher with his wife (who it turns out lived in one of the houses when the water used to be cleaner) and he answered too much cow urine and shit in the water to drink this time of year.
