Personal memory by Emily
2017 • Galveston, TX, USA
For many years of my childhood I remembered Galveston water to be very dirty and brown. Everyone who went near the beaches never went in the water. All the chemical plants around Galveston made people believe the waters were infested with bacteria or something that can enter your body and cause a disruption. There were samples of fecal bacteria in the waters. After many years the water became blue and clear again only for a short period of time, but people did continue to question if it was safe enough to actually go into the water. All those years passing people began to become happy again seeing the bright blue water around the island. Why is everyone persistent with filling our oceans with garbage? It may not be purposeful but so many years are passing and we need to realize there is some alternative we can use in order to save and help our planet.
