Personal memory by Michael Bickel
2015 • Manahawkin, Stafford Township, NJ 08050, USA
I have lived in Manahawkin for all my life and what made the town so beautiful was the overwhelming amount of trees. The main road of the town was surrounded by trees that even hid the view of the storefronts from the road. While our town still has a lot more trees than towns nearby, it has been very obvious that the number of trees has gone down significantly. My house used to have a dense forest beyond our backyard; now there is an expanded parkway in its place. It's sad to see our town's welcome sign proclaim "Tree City USA" as trees are being cut down every single day.
