Personal memory by Elizabeth Beard

Sandfrogs hopped all over the lawn at my grandmothers house. But perhaps that's because she had built a sandbox for us to play in as kids. Perhaps they were only tree frogs. There are still treefrogs chirping close to the river today - but far fewer. And you rarely see them on your path anywhere from the road to the river. They have disappeared - though we can still hear them.. They were the size of my thumb and quite easy to catch in your hand.
