Personal memory by Susan L.
Southwest Harbor, ME, USA
When I was a kid in the 1980's, smooth green snakes (Opheodrys vernalis) were common in my backyard. They are beautiful animals; smooth green and so graceful. My sisters and I would catch them-- and so would our cats. We would find them dead on the porch with their heads chewed off. I haven't seen one in probably 15 years.
