Personal memory by Leslie Howes

About twenty years ago I moved to rural Prince Edward Island, Canada and began gardening.Monarch butterflies were a common sight. I planted specific butterfly friendly varieties. Their presence, the result of such a migration, was a joy. I haven't had them in my garden for years. I think I saw one this summer and it would be the first one in about 7 or 8 years. The ruby throated hummingbirds are still there. For now.
