I remember we used to have these storms of multi-colored locusts come past the house and the locusts could be found in every little space.. We were kids and would collect them by the dozen. Mostly green with multi-colored wings or the brown ones....we just thought all that was normal. I think when I look back, tracking how many I've seen since then..its really shocking that I haven't even noticed how the numbers have declined year by year until someone asks you "hey, when last did you see a locust?" then I think, Sho! its been a while....that is when I can see that something is missing...
