As a child, my sisters and I used to catch lightning bugs, also known as fireflies, at night. It never really dawned on me till recently that I haven't seen any in years. How could such beautiful things disappear like that, and why? I assumed its because of the pesticides that are constantly sprayed to get rid of mosquitoes. Unfortunately, the spray is killing the lightning bugs too.
