Personal memory by Thomas Pilon
Silver bass spawned in Lake Ontario tributaries by the thousands when I was growing up. They averaged over two pounds and were strong fighters, it was nothing to catch and release over one hundred fish per day during the spring spawning run. Their numbers declined steadily with the introduction of cohoe and chinook salmon over the last thirty five years and now they are virtually non-existent in the lake. They were considered a trash fish but they sure were fun to catch!
