Personal memory by Patricia Kinney
1959 • West Palm Beach, Florida
When I was a child, we often visited my grandmother in Florida. She would wake me early in the morning to go to the ocean where we would hide behind the dunes and watch the sea tortoises and their young go back and forth to the water. These large, magnificent creatures were fascinating as we had the great pleasure and honor to observe them in their natural habitat. I don't believe such an early morning ritual could take place today. How I treasure that memory.
