Personal memory by Marc Weinstein

I remember an Erie Canal Locke, abandoned in Phillipsport, NY. That had thousands of hummingbirds and turtles in the lake behind it. Then Route 209 was rebuilt - they drained the water from the small lake as they built the highway alongside it. Or it was choked dry. No more hummingbirds, few turtles in one year.
