Personal memory by Kayla F

The Houston Toad has been on the decline over the years and at one point, only had 300 left. There have been organizations trying to restore the population and help conserve areas of their habitats, but they need a very specific kind of environment and with the rapid urbanization of Houston and a wild-fire that happened a few years back in Houston woods, a lot of their habitat was lost. Here's hoping that the release of many eggs from the Houston Zoo into the wild helps to restore the population, but if not--there is a good chance they may be lost in my lifetime.
