Personal memory by Stephan Witting
2018 • Pachacamac District, Peru
There is a place in the country side of Lima, Peru, called Pachacamac. Every winter, even though the area is known for being a desert, the mountains attract fog that creates a humid micro-climate. This makes a lot of vegetation grow very fast, creating one of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole state of Lima. Within the large variety of plants that grow there, is included the Amancaes flower, which is known for how gorgeous it is. Unfortunately, the Amancaes flower is an engendered species that can only be found in the mountains of Pachacamac. It's very sad to see how now mining companies are starting to enter this area, destroying every single mountain in their pursue for money, without even thinking about the consequences. We have started to see change in Pachacamac. It's hard to think that this place will disappear very soon.
