Personal memory by Christie Yorke
1996 • Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Wading around and snorkeling in the shallows by a dilapidated dock in Loreto was a magical experience in the mid-1990's. Friendly porcupine fish swam around my legs, sting rays lurked in the sediments, ghost shrimp peaked out from crevices, seahorses, sea cucumbers, and colorful fish abounded. The place is comparatively lifeless and the water murky nowadays due to trawling, gill-nets, and local pollution.
