"An estimated 24 million seahorses are taken from the wild every year for use in traditional Chinese Medicine, the aquarium trade and as dried souvenirs. In 2004, all seahorse species were added to CITES, the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species, with many species' populations drastically decreasing throughout their ranges. In order to ensure their survival in the wild, the trade in seahorses must be regulated. Ask your TCM practitioner to choose the next best alternative that does not help to push these amazing animals to extinction. You can help save them from going extinct."
Never buy seahorses for traditional medicine, aquariums or as curiosities.
