Personal memory by Peter Callen
1970 • Southern California
There used to be an abundance of abalone off the coast of California; Black, Green, and Red Abalone. In my lifetime, I'm 51 yrs. old, I have seen the Red Abalone go from abundant to nearly extinct along the coast of California. Commercial "fishing" of these gastropod mollusks has diminished the underwater community of life considerably in the past 40 years.
