Personal memory by jane whitehill

Just outside of Suffolk, an older lady took us into the pines. It was spring, and there was lots of pale green. The ground was a CARPET of yellow lady's slippers, fleshy green leaves, yellow! orchid-looking flowers, all OVER the ground. The older lady said, "I want you girls to see this. On Monday the company is coming in to take all the trees. The lady's slippers will all be gone." "You'll never see this again."
