Personal memory by Ruby

One of my favorite things about growing up in Puerto Rico was listening to the coquis sing at night. I remember one night, my mom and I were just sitting outside, and we heard a couple of coquis in the bushes. I remember getting really excited, and then my mom telling me that this was nothing compared to the amount of coquis that were around when she grew up. She said she used to hear a whole choir of coquis at night. And now that I'm only on the island to visit family, I notice that I don't hear them as much anymore. I feel lucky to hear one coqui singing. The island feels quieter at night. I wonder where they went.
