Personal memory by Raul Arias de Para
1956 • Anton Valley, Panama
My parents had a weekend home in El Valle de Anton, Cocle, Panamá, where I spent 3 months of every year (school vacations) until I went to college in the US. I remember seeing "ranas doradas" frequently in a waterfall near our house. Now I have a 2 year old grandson and I'd give an arm and a leg to be able show him a "rana dorada". I can imagine him looking with wonder at such a beautiful creature and giving it a name that only he and I would recognize. Grandchildren help you reinforce your conservation values. This is what conservation is all about, keeping the world intact for our grandchildren and for the children of our grandchildren.
