Extinct circa 1988 CE • Java, Indonesia
"Rescue programs also were too late for the little Javan Tiger. In 1971, there were less than 12 animals in south-eastern Java. By 1981, despite attempts to set up a reserve only two were believed to survive. By 1988, this last couple of Javan Tigers were gone, and the race is believed to be extinct."
