Personal memory by Perfect Earth Project
2015 • Long Island, New York, USA
Hundreds of dead fish washing up on shores of the Peconic River is a sight no one wants to see again. Unfortunately, last summer's massive fish kills are slated to become the norm on Long Island due to excessive nitrogen pollution. Landscape fertilizers are the second largest man made source of nitrogen in New York's estuaries, and the single largest contributor in properties over 2.2 acres in size. These quick acting synthetic fertilizers cause algal blooms and closures of beaches and shellfish ground. At Perfect Earth Project we look to creating a future when it can be taken for granted that land is managed without toxins and is safe for people, pets and the environment.
