Personal memory by Lune Rhodes

Growing up with parents from the islands was a great experience for me. They planted fruits and vegetables in our back yard in Florida and taught me how to care for the trees and plants. It saddens me that we had to tear down our ackee tree at some point due to the city regulations. We had watermelon, lemons, tomatoes, onions, peppers, oranges, grapefruit, avocadoes, papaya, mangoes, peas, beans, and several others growing in our yard and it was a reminder for my parents and also for me that you can grow natural fruits and vegetables without having to inject them with todays pesticides and hormones.
