Personal memory by Yu-Jou Chang
2000 • 台灣臺灣省 (Taiwan)
Formosan black bears, the only indigenous bears in Taiwan that was voted the best animal represents Taiwan's wild life, have faced a serious issue of extinction for numerous years. Unlike other normal bears, Formosan black bears do not hibernate; they spent 50% of their days hunting for food in winter. When I was little, I remembered I could see them in every zoo I had been to but there is only two zoos that obtain the Formosan Black Bear presently.
