Personal memory by Carolyn Evans
1964 • Pittsburgh
Lightning bugs flew low over the lawn at dusk in Des Moines, Iowa. They were easy to catch in glass jars with air holes punched in the metal lids. After moving to Warren, Pennsylvania in 1994, I don't remember seeing many lightning bugs. Moved again in 2009 to Tullahoma, Tennessee where we again saw their lights at dusk. (We also saw cicadas.) Moved in 2011 to Pittsburgh. I have yet to see a lightning bug.
