As a child, I roamed the woods and streams of Maine every summer in search of butterflies. To me, they were always magical creatures. Too delicate for this earth. They followed me through my adult years. I live in Brazil now and although I am nearly 50, they have the same effect on me as they did when I was a little boy all those years ago. They are timeless pieces of intricate beauty whose ephemeral nature should remind us of our fragile place on this planet.
