When I was a kid, summer nights in Miami, Florida were twinkling with fireflies, or what I called as a young Spanglish speaking child, cocuyos. With the rise in developments and in turn, more light pollution, they have not appeared in my front yard for many years now. It gave my home a magical glow that I miss oh so much.
