I remember riding through the back roads of West Virginia with my grandfather surrounded by apple orchards. They were everywhere. We would go to an old farm and see cows and pet horses. It is all gone now. It has been turned into a development. Townhouses. Surrounded by empty plots of grass where hundreds of apple trees once stood.
