A Small Piece Of Happiness

Personal memory by Tanner Samp

2017Winter Park, FL, USA

I walk to school everyday and the best part of my journey was always how, even among a city atmosphere, there still remained a small patch of natural land surrounding a local church. On sunny days, the rays would brilliantly shine through the many beautiful, majestic maple trees that would kindly grace me with shade. I would catch musters of peacocks bathing in the natural sunlight; the rays saturating the bright green grass that lay all around. Sadly, this land has recently been sold and within less than a month: the trees have all been removed, and the land itself completely black topped over with the exception of the now standing apartment complex. I will never forget how good this spot used to make me feel.
