Personal memory by Devon Pendleton
1995
The home where I grew up in a New England suburb was surrounded by forest and wetlands. My parents chose to live there, in part, because the restrictions against building on top of wetlands guaranteed some seclusion and natural beauty. Building codes changed, builders adapted, town laws loosened and now most of that wetland has McMansions on top of it.
