Personal memory by Fernando Gutiérrez Arias,
1985 • San Cristobal, Mexico
“Well, there are several things missing. In San Cristobal for instance, native species of trees, especially fruit trees like the pear tree is almost extinct. Several mountains have also been destroyed due to mining. I can mention the example of two particular ones that have already disappeared because of it in the last 15 years. In the rainforest of Chiapas, many animals have been exploited, now 2/3 of the forest is gone because of cattle.”
