Growing up on the Niagara River is probably the source of some of my fondest memories. My hometown is connected to the river and the Great Lakes (specifically Ontario). Fortunately, the area is still pristine, but I shudder at the thought of losing this place. The schools in my hometown often taught us about preserving this environment from a young age so it's hard for me to imagine losing it.
