Wind and solar in Chile, among largest in Latin America

"To bring about a real change in energy consumption in Chile, Mainstream Renewable Power has thought big: a USD 1.8 billion project to build seven wind farms and three photovoltaic solar parks in the country. The renewable energy initiative, one of the largest in Latin America, could supply 1.3 gigawatts of clean energy, enough to supply 20% of Chilean homes, when all the pieces are up and running in 2022. That could mark a big progress towards Chile's ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The project also generates a strong economic boost, cementing Chile's reputation as a renewable energy powerhouse and helping to move the country away from its heavy reliance on mining."
