Traveling to Manila, I remember being on the highway. To the left, shopping malls and tourist traps went on for miles. To my right, slums. Even though it is "more fun in the Philippines," we only look at the beautiful ocean and islands that have yet to be touched. We don't acknowledge the damage to the land we live on.
