Extinct circa 1936 CE • Okinawa archipelago
"The wood pigeon restricted to the Ryuku Islands...has not been reliably recorded since the 1930s; clearly, it may not now survive. This large, black bird with a silver crescent on its hindneck was only ever seen in forest. Apparently, it was present on several islands and while it has almost certainly vanished form the larger ones, there remains a hope that it still survives on some of the smaller."
