Right Of Way

My dad has a degree in Wildlife Biology. Growing up, he always stressed the importance of caring for wildlife. What's stuck out most to me over the years are the times when he'd be driving, and there would be an animal crossing the road. He'd always do his best to help or protect them, even if it blocked traffic. If it were a turtle, he would stop his car, get out, and carry the turtle to the other side of the road. If it were a family of egrets, he would turn his hazards on and block traffic until they finished meandering across the road. People would honk at him, or drive around through the grass, or call him names, but he never stopped doing it because it's what he knew was the right thing to do. Thanks to him, I don't care about what people say to me when I help animals cross the road, because I know it's the right thing to do as well.
