Personal memory by Sadie

I grew up fishing and walking around Como Lake, a focal point of the Como Park Neighborhood of St. Paul, MN. For years I remember its surface getting thick with green mats every summer. These mats were so thick that even if they ran the skimming machine every week, it would hardly open up any water. The community added rain gardens as catchments for street run-off while the streets were being redone in the mid-to-late 2000s, and now, these rain gardens are thriving and Como Lake is less green in the summer.
