Personal memory by Nell Breyer
1980 CE • Nairobi, Kenya
As a child, I remember bringing a bullet proof vest to Dr. Iain Douglas Hamilton. He used this for his own protection against elephant poachers. As he was flying in small airplanes all over Kenya and East Africa, trying to protect elephants from poachers, he found that, in their frustration, these poachers ended up trying to poach him. Iain is a world authority on the African Elephant, helped launch the world ivory trade ban and more recent White House initiatives to "Stop the Killing, Stop the Trafficking, and Stop the Demand for Ivory." He founded save the elephants in 1993: http://savetheelephants.org/
