Personal memory by Jessica Penick Cecil
When I was young I used to count Red Winged Blackbirds and Goldfinches on walks with my parents in the evening. Sometimes I'd see 4 or 5 of each in one evening. I saw both a Goldfinch and a Red Winged Blackbird in the apple orchard this spring for the first time in at least 15 years. We fenced in the apple orchard last fall, and then this spring there they were. I hadn't seen either in a very long time.
