Personal memory by Randy Savarese
1987 • Marco Island, FL, USA
I visited the beaches on Marco Island quite a bit as a child. There were gigantic sand dunes on the south side of the island made of the fluffiest sand I had ever felt and various grasses all around. As development began, and beach erosion became rampant, the dunes were replaced with shells dredged from the sea floor to replace the beach and the vegetation replaced with poorly constructed luxury condos.
