Industry Is Not Always Healthy

Personal memory by Santiago Clavijo

When I was just a little kid, I used to live in a neighborhood in Bogotá called Chapinero, it is one of the most traditional neighborhoods in the city; the zone was fantastic, full of trees, a lot of natural parks surrounding it. The people were living peacefully and healthily due to the fact that everyone was doing exercise and the environment was clean but industrialization is not always so good, and the Mayor signed a document that allowed companies from outside to place factories throughout the zone, and with this came the pollution. There was no peace anymore, people were moving out to different places, some places were demolished to build higher buildings, more cars and problems came in. Some people are going against this phenomenon because it is not healthy for the people who live in those areas.
