Back in 2010, I was living in New Jersey. There was a park not a mile from my home that had been completely destroyed so that corporations could build a new outlet mall. Now, sitting where that park stood, is a barren lot of grass and sand. They killed over a hundred trees. As of 2017, they abandoned the project.
