Extinct circa 1990 CE • Southern Florida
"A subspecies of the seaside sparrow (Ammodramus maritimus) is known as the dusky seaside sparrow and was found in salt marshes within a ten mile radius of Titusville on the east coast of Florida. The race was named nigrescens and declined largely as a result of DDT spraying. The last few birds were taken into captivity and the very last individual died on June 16th 1987."
