I remember as a child playing in local lakes in Western, MA which at that time had an abundant population of crayfish in the shallows. I have not seen one in that area as an adult, in fact the last time I did see one was in the mid coast of Maine in 2007. A beautiful pristine pond, I was so happy to see one of these creatures again in fresh water.
