Personal memory by Ian McLaughlin

I am a Boy Scout and recently went on a scuba diving trip in the keys with my boy scout troop. While we were there we learned many things but what stuck with me the most was the importance of coral reefs and the sheer amount of degradation they have faced in past years. Coral reefs while making up less than 2 percent of the ocean floor provide habitat to 25% of marine life. Not only that but Florida's barrier reef has shrunk by a considerable amount. Conservation efforts are underway however it is a very important issue.
