Summer days of this boyhood were spent in wonder exploring Penns woods (southwestern Pennsylvania). A usual prize to be found...the solitary box turtle. My kids, teenage, have never seen, never felt, the impressive weight of a single one. The wise turtle of old left a memory-borne message of our slipping diversity.
