Personal memory by Micheal Williams

While driving through northern Canada on my way from Alaska to Virgina, I noticed a small herd of bison while driving. After doing some research it came to my attention that bison populations became nearly extinct in the mid-19th century. In the 20th century, the Canadian government's conservationist policies restricted hunting of bison and made plans to reintroduce a breeding population of the plains bison to Banff National Park. Efforts to conserve the bison are still ongoing today.
