Bali Tiger

Extinct circa 1972 CEBali, Indonesia

"The now extinct Bali Tiger was the smallest of all tiger subspecies.  Ernst Schwarg, in 1912, described the Bali Tiger as similar to the small Javan Tiger, but smaller still. . . . At the time of Schwarg's account, the subspecies was considered fairly common in Bali.  However a massive decline in numbers occured between the two world wars when uncontrolled hunting by Dutch colonials and local people was rife and fashionable. . . The last known Bali Tiger was a female shot at Sumbar Kima, West Bali on 27 September 1937."
