Personal memory by Sean Daily

I would go to La Plata Canyon at any time of the day or night are marvel at the beauty of the mountains and waterfalls, get lost in the magnificence of the most clear star field I've ever seen, or just wander through nature to see what unknown beauties I could find. It was my place of tranquility, far from civilization (not that far, but seemingly so). My heart broke when a company wanted to come in and mine the canyon. The other locals had the same feelings I did and they banded together to stop this corporation from ruining such a majestic portion of nature. Now, though I no longer live in Colorado, I can still go back to La Plata Canyon and traipse around in the wilderness for hours upon hours and be thankful that my fellow Coloradans could band together to block the mining initiative.
