A Lost Tree

2012Wimbledon, London, UK

When I was growing up there was an enormous acacia tree that had a towering trunk and a sweeping flat canopy growing in someone's garden. I would walk past every day on my way to school; It was unlike any other tree in the area and it stood out because of how majestic and unusual it was. I always wanted to get a really good picture of it to put up in my house. One Christmas we went away to visit family abroad and I got a great camera. When I got back the tree had been cut down because it was blocking too much sunlight and so the owners decided to get rid of it. I never got a chance to capture its beauty in a picture. To this day I feel it was a huge shame for the owners to cut it down both for the local community and the wildlife that this tree undoubtedly supported.
